Between December 2009 and December 2010, recruiters saw a 17% increase in applications per opening, according to the Corporate Executive Board.
Job boards and job postings generating thousands of unqualified applicants are being replaced by focused recruiting and increased use of social networking sites.
A recent WSJ article stated, "nearly 80% of respondents said they plan to increase their use of job-board alternative methods this year, such as employee referrals and other websites like Facebook or LinkedIn".
